Kaigama Congratulates Archbishop Job at Golden Jubilee of Priestly Ordination

The President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), Most Rev Ignatius Ayau Kaigama has written to congratulate Archbishop Felix Alaba Adeosin Job, the Emeritus Archbishop of Ibadan, as the latter marks the Golden Jubilee of his Priestly Ordination.

In his good will message to the celebrant, Kaigama noted that “Fifty years of dedicated and consistent service as a priest of the Catholic Church call for immense gratitude to God and it is an invitation to praise God with trumpet blast, Iyer and harp, with dance and tambourines, pipe and strings, with clashing of cymbals, etc(Ps 150)”

While reassuring the celebrant on behalf of the CBCN of their closeness and prayers during ‘this grace-moment of Priestly Golden Jubilee’, Kaigama recalled the positive impacts of Archbishop Job during his time as the President of the CBCN.

“During your two terms as President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, you exhibited a rare sense of dedication and you were passionate promoter of all that is holy, noble and good for the Nigerian Church. Your photographic memory about the event in the Nigerian Church has been useful to us during deliberations that many times we would refer to you as “a living archive”. You energetic disposition has been a blessing, as you faithfully attended national events organized by the CBCN, even after retirement.”

Kaigama paid glowing tribute to the contribution of the celebrant to the formation and growth of many Associations such as the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Christian Health Association of Nigeria (CHAN) and the New Era of Evangelization.

“Your contribution to the Christian Association(CAN) especially in its foundation stages, the Christian Health Association of Nigeria(CHAN), the New Era of Evangelization; your untiring self-giving to the Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan during your tenure as Archbishop of Ibadan and Metropolitan of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province have been a great blessing to the Nigerian Church.”

On a good personal relationship he shared with the celebrant, Kaigama described Archbishop Job as “a good motivator, an inspiration and a pillar of moral support.”

“You have always been there reminding, urging, affirming, humbly and positively pointing a way forward.” He said.

The CBCN President wished the celebrant a pleasant celebration and many more years of happiness and good health in the Lord’s vineyard.

Most Rev Felix Alaba Adeosin Job was ordained a priest in 1966. He was appointed an Auxilliary Bishop of Ibadan and titular Bishop of Abthugni in 1971. He became the Bishop of Ibadan in 1974 and appointed Archbishop of Ibadan when Ibadan became an Archdiocese in 1994. He retired in 2013.
