A call has been made on all Nigerians, especially Christians to respond and cooperate with God , in order to get out of the grave of corruption, promiscuity, greed, lust and craze for mundane things of the world; in order to eternal life after death.

The call was made by the Catholic Bishop of Oyo Diocese, Most Rev. Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo at the celebration of the Mass, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Life Camp, Abuja. The Bishop was in the diocese to conduct the 2017 Lenten Retreat for the faithful of the diocese.

Premising his homily on the readings of the day, Bishop Badejo reiterated the fact that God’s ways are not man’s ways  and it is paramount for man to cooperate with God, because “God is in total control and “His time is the best for us in all circumstances.

According to the local ordinary of Oyo Diocese, God is always doing something new in our lives every day and when we imbibe these new things by God, we are living in the Lord. Dwelling on the admonition of Ezekiel in the first reading, Bishop Badejo declared: “The journey to heaven has to be aided by God. He continued that we are on a journey that takes us to glory and God is doing everything for us in this perspective, but man has remained a stumbling block.

Bishop Badejo noted that only those who live in the Spirit belong to Christ adding: “If the Spirit does not direct your life, then where do you belong.” He described the Gospel reading of Christ raising Lazarus from the dead  as a manifestation of God’s love  and way of doing things his own way; as against our wanting him to do things the way we want them to be done; because of our selfishness.

The local ordinary of Oyo Diocese reminded the faithful that the decision to follow Christ is not optional but total and loving God is a full time job. He therefore urged that we must cooperate with God and allow Christ to make us new and direct our lives his own ways so that we can, at the end of our sojourn on earth, be part of the eternal home in heaven.
