Staff of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) have been urged to work as a team in order to achieve the mission of Jesus Christ, which is centred on proclaiming the gospel to the ends of the earth, even as they were urged to live the life of prayer, generosity, as well as seek knowledge and to evangelize the world.
This admonition was given by the Catholic Bishop of Bauchi, Most Rev. Hilary Dachelem, CMF when he directed the 2021 Annual Retreat for the Staff of the CSN/CBCN Agencies at the CSN headquarters, Abuja recently.
Bishop Dachelem noted that there is a need for teamwork in order to fight against threats to the right order of values. “The best teams do not have people with similar skills. They combine the diverse talents and backgrounds from a pool of diverse individuals and appreciate the gifts that each one brings to contribute. Great teams have people that know their role and appreciate others as well”.
The prelate also charged the staff of the administrative headquarters of the Catholic Church in Nigeria to live by the four signs of a dynamic Catholic namely: Prayer, Generosity, Study and Evangelization.
The Bishop noted further that working at the Catholic Secretariat means that being an ambassador of the Church, therefore, staff of the Secretariat must be knowledgeable about the Catholic faith and what the Church stands for.
He enumerated some of the qualities of an ambassador to include patriotism, fatherly/motherly care, accountability and transparency, diplomacy, stewardship, trust and obedience.
