Three projects were commissioned by members of the Administrative Board of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Resource Centre, Durumi, Abuja Thursday, June 3, 2021.

The projects include the Statue of Blessed Michael Cyprian Iwene Tansi, OSCO, the elevator at the Resource Centre and the Sacramental/Vestments’ Shop.

The CBCN President and Archbishop of Benin-City, Most Rev. Augustine Obiora Akubeze commissioned the Statue of Blessed Tansi, Vice President of the Conference and Bishop of Umuahia, Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji commissioned the elevator, while Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan commissioned the Sacramental/Vestments’ Shop.

The Statue of Blessed Tansi, donated by Chief Francis N.C. Nwandison, is mounted in the CSN Resource Centre’s Banquet Hall named after the Nigerian Saint.

Born in 1904 at Aguleri Town in Anambra State, Blessed Tansi was ordained Catholic Priest on December 19, 1937, he died on January 20, 1964 and was beatified by Pope John Paul II on March 22, 1998.

Also, blessed Michael Iwene Tansi is the Patron of Nigerian Priests.
