Rev. Fr. Simeon Iber has been appointed as the Rector of St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, Makurdi, Benue State after serving in acting capacity for ten months.
In the appointment letter dated July 5, 2021, the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Rome, charged the new Rector to “form youths into committed disciples who will continue the Good Shepherd’s Mission”.
The Oath of office was administered on the rector on July 27, 2021 by the Chairman of St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary Governing Board and the Catholic Bishop of Makurdi Diocese, Most Rev. Wilfred Anagbe, CMF.
Fr. Iber, priest of Gboko Diocese, has been teaching Systematic Theology in the Seminary since 2009.
Born on February 17, 1964, he was ordained a priest on July 2, 1988 by Bishop Donald Murray at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral, Makurdi.
He takes over from Rev. Fr. Godwin Atede from Idah Diocese, who served the institution for eight years.
