PLEASE STOP THE KILLINGS IN NIGERIA, POPE FRANCIS APPEALS
2021, Sep 29

Padre Mike Nsikak Umoh, CSN

The Holy Father, Pope Francis, sends his words of comfort and consolation to all Nigerians in general, and particularly, to the victims of the recent attacks in Madamai Abun village in Kaura Local Government of the Southern part of Kaduna State, where suspected Islamist militants allegedly ravaged the community, killed 34 persons and injured many.

"I learnt with pain the news of the armed attacks that took place last Sunday against the villages of Madamai Abun, in northern Nigeria.  I pray for those who have died, for those who have been injured and for the entire Nigerian population," the Pope stated.

The Supreme Pontiff expressed his sentiments of prayerful solidarity with the Nigerian people at his usual Wednesday General Audience in the Vatican today, September 29, 2021 while also appealing for safety in the country. " I hope that the safety of all citizens will always be guaranteed in the country."

On the feast day of the Archangels, Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, Pope Francis taught the pilgrims the "difficult but important topic" of justification, which he said St. Paul insists, comes through faith in Christ.
